The installation is intended for continuously extruding insulation material in the form of a meshwork around an electrical cable (core 21) in accordance with claim 8 of the main patent (Fr P 78/02942). It comprises an extruder (II) with heating and cooling means for the base material (e.g. polythene,) a fine filter at the outlet end of the extruder (II), an injector for the mesh-forming agent (e.g. an organic peroxide) downstream of the filter, and an extrusion head further downstream. An additional fine filter is arranged immediately downstream of the first fine filter. The first filter is pref. interchangeable whilst the additional filter may be a permanent fixture. Continuous extrusion of insulating meshwork sheathing around electrical cable. The additional filter prevents contamination of the base material which could be introduced when handling the first filter during its replacement. |
