PURPOSE:To surely and automatically regenerate a cut filament even in the case of small diameter and to obtain efficiently glass fibers, by spinning molten glass by the use of an orifice plate wherein a great number of orifices of a specific structure are closely arranged. CONSTITUTION:Pairs of the two orifices 2 are closely arranged in the orifice plate 1. The two orifice outlets of each pair are symmetrically positioned in the conic dent 3 formed on the bottom of the orifice plate 1, opened and the length of the side wall of each of the orifice 2 is formed in such a way that the length at the side a near the center of the dent 3 is made shorter than the length at the side b far from the center of the dent. Then the orifice plate 1 is attached to the bottom of the bushing 4, the molten glass 5 put in the bushing is made to flow through a great number of the orifices 2, spun into a great number of the filaments 6 and the glass fibers are wound through the applicator 7, the collecting device 8 and the traverse motion 10 round the winding pipe 10. Even if one filament during spinning is cut, the molten glass crawls up to the center of the dent 3, joined with a filament from another orifice and separated to regenerate a filament. |
