<p>PURPOSE:To keep off the possibility of any undue power assist being given during car driving, by making a device judge there is something wrong at a time when a car speed signal out of a car speed sensor is more than the specified value and a torsional torque signal out of a torsional torque sensor goes beyond the specified value too. CONSTITUTION:A motor-driven power steering drives an electric motor 3 with an output signal ki out of a motor current indicating part 1 via a control circuit 2, and gives a power assist to a steering mechanism 4. The motor current indicating part 1 is so constituted to multiply a motor current command value (i) to be emitted on the basis of the detected value of torsional torque in a steering shaft by a car speed factor (k) to be emitted according to the car speed detected value. In this case, there is provided with a safety device 5 which operates a system cutoff mechanism 6 and a warning device 7 at the time of generation of an ON signal out of a car speed discriminating part 51 to be emitted when a car speed signal is more than the specified value, and another ON signal out of a torsional torque discriminating part 54 to be emitted when an absolute value of the signal after absorption of the peak value of a torsional torque signal is more than the specified value.</p> |
