PURPOSE:To reduce the cost of a lead-acid battery by using a sheet-like separator obtained by sintering a mixture of synthetic resin powder and SiO2 powder. CONSTITUTION:0.05-5wt% SiO2 powder is mixed with synthetic resin powder such as polypropylene powder, and the mixture is sintered in a sheet form to form a 0.5-3mm thick sheet-like separator having continuous pores. By replacing an expensive fine glass fiber mat with this separator, the cost of a lead-acid battery can be reduced. |
