PURPOSE:The titled crosslinked copolymer excellent in voltage resistance, inhibition of long-term insulation deterioration, flexibility, moldability, etc., and useful as a power cable material or the like, comprising a crosslinked copolymer of ethylene with a specified compound. CONSTITUTION:A copolymer of a number-average MW>=1,000 is obtained by polymerizing ethylene with 0.0015-3mol% ethylenically alpha,beta-unsaturated acid halogenated alkylphenyl ester of the formula (wherein R is H or -CH3, X is a halogen, Y is a 4-18 C alkyl, n is 0 or 1, m is 1-4 and l is 1-4) at a temperature l120 deg.C and a pressure >=500kg/cm<2> in the presence of a catalyst. 100pts.wt. this copolymer is mixed with 0.5-4pts.wt. chemical crosslinking agent (e.g., dicumyl peroxide) and crosslinked to obtain an electrical-insulating crosslinked ethylene copolymer containing 0.005-10mol% halogenated phenyl ester basic units and a gel content (according to the method of measurement as stipulated by JIS C3005) >=40%. |
