PURPOSE:To provide a composition having adhesivity and effective to suppress the stimulation of tissue such as dental pulp and to prevent the dental damage, and containing a vinylbenzoic acid compound, a vinyl compound and/or silane compound and, if necessary, a free-radical generator and/or a photosensitizer. CONSTITUTION:The titled composition contains (A) a vinylbenzoic acid compound of formula [R1 is H or methyl; R2 is H, 1-5C alkyl, 2-4C alkyleneoxide or -(CH2CH2O)nH (n is 1-4)] (e.g. 4-vinyl-benzoic acid), (B) a vinyl compound (e.g. triethylene glycol dimethacrylate) and/or a silane compound (e.g. gamma- methacryloxy-propyl trimethoxysilane) and if necessary, (C) a free-radical generator (e.g. benzoyl peroxide-N,N-diethanol-p-toluidine) and/or a photosensitizer (e.g. benzoyl methyl ether).
