PURPOSE:To obtain a shape memory TiNi alloy having a high transformation temp. and undergoing hardly reduction in the restoring power by a thermal cycle by substituting B for part of Ni in a TiNi-Cu alloy contg. a regulated total amount of Ni and Cu and by heat treating the resulting alloy at a prescribed temp. after cold working. CONSTITUTION:An alloy obtd. by substituting 0.1-5atm% B for part of Ni in an alloy consisting of 48-50atm% in total of Ni and Cu (Cu <=10atm%) and the balance Ti is homogenized, worked with a hot hammer and hot rolls, process-annealed at 700-800 deg.C, cold worked and heat treated at 500-550 deg.C. Thus, a shape memory alloy having >=600 deg.C martensite transformation start temp., a prolonged thermal cycle life and high transformation function is obtd. The shape memory alloy produces a significant shape memory effect comparable to that of a TiNi alloy. |
