PURPOSE:To eliminate the quenching crack of a billet which is one of the factors for the folded on the surface of a wire rod by heating to the specified temp. a billet immediately before its maintenance. CONSTITUTION:The billet 2 fed by a transfer table 1 moves the marking place of the surface flaw with watching a TV3 and the surface flaw marking place is set to immediately under a heating torch 5. The billet surface flaw marking place is heated to 100-500 deg.C by the heating torch 5 and ignition device 6 and the surface flaw is removed by grinding or welding by B, G7, H, S8 the surface flaw marking place thereafter. After the removal it is transferred to the following stage. These operation are performed with a remote control 17 via P, G or H, S control device 16. The cooling speed after the temp. rise due to the friction heat at the B, G times or the melting heat at the H, S times is thus reduced, the quenching crack caused just under the grinding and welding can be reduced and the surface defect of the billet can be prevented. |
