The present invention relates to, as new industrial products, 3-hydroxy-3-phenylpiperidine derivatives chosen from the set consisting of: a. the 1-alkyl-3-hydroxy-3-phenylpiperidines of formula: <IMAGE> in which R is a C1-C4 alkyl group; and b. their addition salts. These new products are useful in therapeutics as antidepressants of the CNS. They can be prepared according to the reaction <IMAGE> where X is a halogen atom and R defined as above.
