The cross-country vehicle on four driven wheels has a lifting boom (14) in front of the cab (10). For the transport of special loads such as steel plates there is a hydraulically-operated clamp (22) on the boom, with two sets of jaws (28,30) with teeth (40,36) between which the plates are gripped. In the event of failure of the oil pressure, the clamping force is provided by the weight of the load. An adjuster (46) resting on the upper plate is visible from the cab gives an indication of the total load height on one side of the jaw.
|
