PURPOSE:To allow a throttle valve to respond directly to the actuation of an accelerating means by allowing the accelerating means to maintain automatically the manipulated variable for a target speed which is identical to the actual speed at this moment, when the accelerating means is released by a driver. CONSTITUTION:A contact detecting sensor 9 is provided for the front surface of an accelerator pedal 8 so as to detect whether the pedal is pressed or not. A potentiometer 10 outputs analogue voltage corresponding to the stroke displaced of the pedal 8. A motor 12 is connected with a moving stopper 11 through a cable 13. The motor 12 is actuated based on the stroke displaced of the accelerator pedal, then the position of the moving stopper 11 is set, and then a return stop position of the accelerator pedal 8 is maintained at a position which provides a control output for a target speed which is identical to the actual speed at this moment. This configuration allows a throttle valve to correspond directly to the actuation of the accelerator pedal enabling the sense of incongruity on the part of a driver to be eliminated.
