The flexible keel construction, includes two keel sections, which are hinged w.r.t. each other. The top section is fitted to the boat hull, whilst the bottom section hinges on the top section. Between the sections fits a sliding bearing or flexible rubber section. Hinging is accomplished using hinge wires and/or hydraulic pipes, electronically controlled from a panel on deck. The hull (1) has two keel part (2,3) which are hinged at flexible e.g. rubber joint or sliding bearing (10) one section (2) fits securely to the hull bottom. Hinge wires (9) pass through the bottom (4) and are coupled to an adjuster (13). An eccentric, controls the amount of wire tension, and thus the angle between the two keel sections. One section (3) includes a lead bottom ballast bar (5).
