PURPOSE:To improve the utilizing efficiency of a scanner by setting a layout sheet to a tablet digitizer, fetching layout data, writing the data to a recording medium, fetching the data on the original position on a separating drum on which the original is set by a drum type digitizer and writing the data to the recording medium. CONSTITUTION:The input given by using the tablet digitizer 10 is recorded via a CPU1 to a floppy disk 2. The disk 2 is transferred via the drum type digitizer to a trimming layout device B where the recorded contents thereof are utilized. The drum type digitizer A2 constitutes the mechanism to freely rotate the drum 100. A rotary encoder 201 to generate the pulse signal corresponding to the rotating angle of the drum is provided to such mechanism; in addition, a mark 202a indicating the origin in the rotating direction is provided to the drum and a means 202b for detecting the mark 202a is provided to the drum supporting mechanism so that the rotating angle pulses from the origin of the drum are taken out.
