The equipment forms a serrated joint face on a flat floor slab by removal of material from it at intervals. It has one or more rotable wheel components (3a) on an axis movable along the joint face and parallel to it and in a position at right angles to the movement direction. The wheel component has a protrusion on the side (3e) towards the joint face, and whose radial dimension is less than the thickness of the item. It is larger on one side of the axis of rotation than the other. The device comprises a wagon astride and over the flat floor slab in which the projection on the inside of the wheel is attached. The projection forms a sharp angle (alpha) with the inner surface of the wheel.
