Hydrocarbon-soluble compsns. comprise transition metal salts (I) of organic acids, hydrocarbon-soluble ashless dispersants (II) and phenolic antioxidants (III). - (I) is a Cu, Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co or Ni salt of a carboxylic or sulphonic acid, esp. an overbased Mn salt. (II) is a succinimide-type dispersant. (III) is a hindered phenyl, alkylenebisphenol or (di)thiobisphenol contg. at least one 1-8C aliphatic gp., esp. two such gps. in ortho posns.
