The invention relates to a data writing/reading process, in which data blocks which contain data (22) and synchronisation signals (21, 23) are recorded onto a recording medium. The synchronisation signals (21, 23) identify the starting time for the respective data blocks. Arranged in the data are resynchronisation signals (23), to carry out a resynchronisation in the event that, after reading out of the data has commenced, the synchronisation signal (21) has not been correctly sensed. The data are then read out using the resynchronisation signals (23). In this way, recording units recorded on the recording medium, such as a video disc, can be correctly read out even if the synchronisation signal (21) of the respective recording unit, which signal indicates the recording position of the data, cannot be correctly read out or sensed. <IMAGE>
