A container for paper hand towels is specified, which consists of a holder (1) which bears the hand towels and has an insert (3) from which the hand towels can be removed. The insert (3) is a part which is separate from the holder (1). It can be inserted releasably in a bracket (7) of the holder (1). The holder (1) and thus the supply of hand towels can be covered by a hood (2). Different inserts can be inserted in the bracket (7) depending on the type of supply of hand towels (folded individually or paper roll) it also being possible for said inserts to be equipped with a tearing edge. <IMAGE>
