In a system having at least two crushers (M1, M2), the crushing capacity of the crusher (M2) which is connected downstream is to be at least equal to that of the crusher (M1) which is connected upstream so that blockage of the crusher (M2) which is connected downstream is reliably avoided. The insufficient utilisation of the crusher (M2) connected downstream which occasionally occurs as a result is compensated in that the feed device (5, 5a, 6) for the crusher (M1) connected upstream has a bypass branch (21) via which the material for crushing can be fed to the crusher connected downstream (M2) during extreme utilisation of one of the crushers (M1, M2), i.e. normally with the extremely low utilisation of the crusher (M2) connected downstream, thus bypassing the crusher (M1) connected upstream. <IMAGE>
