The invention relates to a mould for embedding models in an embedding composition for the production of moulds for dental workpieces, comprising a mould space accommodating the embedding composition and at least one model and closed by a cylindrical circumferential wall and a bottom part provided on a front side of the circumferential wall. The invention is characterised in that the circumferential wall is formed from a plastic moulding which is divided along a surface line extending from the front side adjacent to the bottom part to a front side of the circumferential wall remote from the bottom part, so that the circumferential wall has in the region of the division two areas each lying on one side of the division in the latter, each area having an edge extending along the split region, and in that the two edges are pressed against each other due to the intrinsic elasticity of the material of the circumferential wall.
