Lubricating of the rim area of a tyre at the end of the tyre manufacturing process, before the tyre is fed to the tyre-testing device, the purpose being to facilitate the seating of the tyre onto the rim flange of the testing device and to prevent the testing device from yielding an erroneous result regarding the properties of the tyre. According to the invention, the seating areas of the tyre are brought into contact, in a separate lubricating device (4), with a horizontal lubricating roll or rolls (7), on which the tyre will rotate for at least one revolution, lubricant being thus yielded into the seating areas of the tyre. The invention also relates to a lubricating apparatus which, in addition to the lubricating device (4), also includes a tyre conveyor (6) and a device (5) for lifting and turning the tyre from the conveyor onto the lubricating roll or rolls (7) and in reverse. |
