An actuator for changing electric tools from the operating state "drilling" to the operating state "hammer drilling" or "percussion drilling" and vice versa is to be combined with a safety element in such a way that assembly of the actuator with the safety element is simplified and the expenditure for these parts is reduced to a minimum. This is done according to the invention by the control handle being combined with a flexible safety element containing segments having at least one undercut at their outer periphery. The end faces of the safety element which are obtained by the undercuts, after insertion of the control handle into the receptacle provided in the tool housing, come to bear against the inside of the housing wall and thus secure the control handle against being pulled out.
