A temperature regulator 10 consists essentially of a bimetallic element 14 (which is mounted on a retaining base 12 and is constructed in the form of a plate) and of two snap-action switches 18, 20 which are operated by the pivoting end 16 of the bimetallic element 14. One of the snap-action switches 18 is used for switching on and off a first, and the second 20 for switching on and off a second, heating, cooling or ventilator stage. The temperature values for the snap-action switches 18, 20 to switch on and off can be adjusted via an adjusting device 22. In order to design such a temperature regulator in such a manner that, in a structurally simple manner, the temperature can be raised (or lowered) by manual operation from a level above the switching-on point of the second switching contact, it being intended to ensure that the temperature does not end up beyond the setting range which is regulated by the first snap-action switch, a manual operating device 40 is provided for switching the second snap-action switch 20 on at a temperature which is higher (lower) than the switching-on temperature of the second snap-action switch. The operating device 40 displaces the bimetallic element into its switching-on bending position in the region of its intrinsic movement hysteresis. <IMAGE>
