The rotary potentiometer has a housing (24) with a plug plate (27) into which the contact pins (42) which are mounted on the resistance carrier (38) project. The bearing bush (19) is pressed into the central hole (40) in the resistance carrier (38) and centres the centring pin (17) of the spring carrier (4) which is prestressed by the restoring spring (43) when the driver (1) is rotated anticlockwise. The torque is transmitted by the driver (1) via the tooth systems (5, 6) to the brush wiper spring (22) which makes contact with the resistance layer (37). By separating the wiper system, a centre offset of several tenths of a millimetre between the shaft (45) of the fuel injection system and the rotary potentiometer can be compensated for, which contributes significantly to improving the quality and lengthening the life, with correct operation and a reduced scrap rate. <IMAGE>
