A description is given of a polishing and straightening machine for stock in rod form, in particular shafts, having a revolving frame in which are arranged straightening and supporting rolls. To ensure that the machine gives better and more satisfactory results, the said machine is characterised in that the supporting roll(s) is (are) preferably convex polishing rolls (6, 7, 8), at least three such rolls being arranged in a plane perpendicular to the axis (13) of the frame (2). For this purpose, at least three polishing rolls (6, 7, 8) can be arranged at the machine inlet and/or at the machine outlet, in each case in a plane perpendicular to the axis (13) of the frame (2). The straightening roll (9) arranged between the supporting rolls (6, 7, 8, 10) is preferably of hyperbolic design. <IMAGE>
