Platinum crown ether complex compounds of the general formula I L1-2Pt<IV>A0-2XnYm in which L is a mono- and/or bicyclic and/or open crown ether, A is ammonia or amine functions containing mono- or bidentate alkyl-, cycloalkyl- or arylamines and/or [lacuna] in the crown ether, X and Y, which can be identical or different, are halogen, OH<->, SO4<2->, RCOO<->, di- or tricarboxylic acid anions and together have the charge -4, m + n = 2, 3 or 4, exhibit anti-tumour action and are therefore suitable for the treatment of cancers.
