The process for die forming a tubular member from a metal or metal alloy strip at a reduced drawing force is described herein. The process uses shaping 11 of at least one edge portion of the strip 14 prior to drawing the strip through a tube-forming die 18. The shaping reduces the drawing force exerted on the strip material and/or any joint. To form a tube with a substantially closed seam, the strip is provided with an initial cross-sectional area greater than the cross-sectional area of the tube to be formed. Most preferably the edges of the strip are shaped to provide the undrawn strip 14 with a trapezoidal cross section. |
