The invention relates to an apparatus for transferring shaped pieces of a soft consistency, especially fillets of fish, from a longitudinal conveying line to a transverse conveying line, the object to be achieved being to convey the fillets onwards, alongside one another in a stretched-out position. To achieve this object, a braking device is situated in the region of the point of transition between the feed and the discharging conveyor, which device comprises a driven conveyor, the lower run of which is situated opposite the conveyed surface of the discharging conveyor, leaving a gap, and is driven in the direction of movement of the conveying surface so as to circulate at the same speed as the said surface.
