PURPOSE:To obtain a multicolor image by a single process without causing mistregistration of colors and at a high recording speed, by a method wherein a capsule sheet obtained by microencapsulation of a diazonium compound of a photo-decomposable dye is irradiated with rays, and an image thermally transferred onto a color forming sheet. CONSTITUTION:Diazonium compounds capable of forming cyan, magenta and yellow colors, respectively, are microencapsulated, and the microcapsules 3 are uniformly applied to the capsule sheet 1. According to a signal from a CRT or the like, the sheet 1 is irradiated with rays 4, 5, 6 with wavelengths lambda1-lambda3 to form color latent images. Next, the sheet 1 is laid on the color forming sheet 7 coated uniformly with a dispersion of a coupler compound 10 capable of forming colors by reacting with the diazonium compounds and a basic substance 11, and heat of at least T1 is applied, thereby effecting transfer. By this, the diazonium compounds are released from the capsulaes, and unexposed diazonium compounds react with the coupler compound 10 to form colors, thereby forming a multicolor image. |
