PURPOSE:To inhibit increases in [O] and [T.Fe] in finally refined molten steel by adding a small amount of a reducing agent such as coke to molten steel in a converter at the end of a refining stage for manufacturing steel in the converter. CONSTITUTION:When molten pig iron is subjected to oxidative decarburization by blowing oxygen in a bottom blowing converter to manufacture molten steel, a reducing agent such as coke is added by 0.1-5 kg per 1 ton molten steel after the lapse of 80-95% of the entire refining time. Excess oxygen [O] present in the molten steel reacts with the reducing agent such as coke, so the amount of [O] decreases and the amount of [T.Fe] can be controlled. Thus, steel is manufactured by refining in a high yield of raw materials. |
