PURPOSE:To efficiently dephosphorize molten pig iron by adding quick lime to slag rising to the surface of the molten pig iron after desiliconization to properly adjust the basicity of the slag and by adding quick lime and oxygen to the molten pig iron. CONSTITUTION:When molten pig iron desiliconized to <=0.2% Si content is dephosphorized by adding quick lime and oxygen, quick lime is added beforehand to desiliconization slag remaining and rising to the surface of the molten pig iron after the desiliconization to adjust the basicity (weight ratio of CaO/ SiO2) of the slag to >=2.0. Phosphorus in the molten pig iron is then converted into phosphorus oxide by oxidation with oxygen, fixed with quick lime and maintained stably in the slag to prevent rephosphorization. Thus, the molten pig iron is effectively dephosphorized. |
