PURPOSE:To improve the shape and quality of an ingot by disposing a fin roll pair constituted of a magnetic material on the rear surfaces of belts near the meniscus. CONSTITUTION:Plural pieces of the fin rolls 16, 16' are disposed on the rear surface side of the belts 5, 5' so as to contact with the belts near the meniscus 19 of a molten metal 10. The fin rolls 16, 16' are provided with disk fins 23 consisting of the magnetic material having high coercive force on roll shafts 24 and are so constituted that the belts 5, 5' and the fins 23 directly contact with each other. The molten metal 10 poured between the belts 5 and 5' from a tundish 9 is cooled between the belts where the meniscus part thereof is held between the fin rolls 16, 16' having the high coercive force to form solidified shells. The belts 5, 5' which are going to generate the buckling deformation by the thermal stress contact tightly with the fin rolls 16, 16'. The flatness of the belt surfaces is thus assured and the shape and quality of the ingot are improved. |
