PURPOSE:To improve processability in case of trouble occurrence while maintaining functions of lamp light quantity adjustment and image density adjustment by providing a control means which detects the trouble on the basis of the detection outputs of a light quantity detecting means and an original density detecting means and performs copying operation in case of trouble according to copying condition. CONSTITUTION:When a reference value of the quantity of light corresponding to an original 3 is set, control to the constant quantity of light is performed by a light quantity detecting device 8 again and the light of a fluorescent lamp 1 is dimmed to the constant quantity on the basis of the reference value of the quantity of light. When it is confirmed that the light reaches the constant quantity of the basis of the reference value, contact glass 2 begins to run for exposure and when copying operation is carried out actually and completed, the contact glass 2 stops at the center part of a machine and holds itself in readiness for next copying operation. If either or both of the light quantity detecting device 8 and an original density detecting device 10 are trouble in said operation, that is detected by a CPU 11 and a timer starts during the dimming control so as to perform the copying operation, so that monitoring operation is performed for a time t0 long enough to dim the fluorescent lamp 1. |
