<p>A wood sorting apparatus comprises a plurality of compartments arranged to receive wood from a conveyor located above the compartments, each of the compartments being provided with an openable receiving or bottom part comprising at least two flexible members, and each of the members being arranged to co-act on one side of a compartment with a drum arranged to take-up and pay-out respective ones of the members, and each of the members being passed over a guide arm arranged on the same side as the drum. Respective free ends of the members on the other side of the compartment are arranged to co-act with a locking means, and the drum is arranged to co-act with the guide arm in a manner such that, at the end phase of a member take-up operation, the guide arm is caused to swing upwardly in a direction towards the locking means arranged on the opposite side of said compartment, for releasable co-action of the locking means with the free end of respective members. The object of the invention is to provide a simplified construction by means of which a locking effect is obtained between that end of the belt guided by the locking means and the locking means. To this end it is proposed that a) the free end of respective members in the working phase when the guide arm moves upwardly, has a length such that it hangs freely outside the free end of respective guide arms, and that the free end of the flexible members have at least two mutually spaced stop means; b) that the guide arm is arranged, in an optimally substantially horizontal position, to abut its free end within a space defined by the locking means, the space being arranged to accommodate at least the outermost stop means and exhibits means forming a clamp for the free end of the member in a wood-receiving position.</p> |
