PURPOSE:To obtain a build-up layer essentially consisting of ceramics having the high adhesive strength by welding to the surface of a base material by consisting a filler rod of a sintered body of a uniform mixture composed of Cr-Co alloy powder and ceramic powder. CONSTITUTION:The uniform powder mixture composed of the Cr-Co alloy powder as a matrix and silicon carbide powder as ceramic powder is packed into a carbon electrode mold and is calcined at a prescribed sintering temp. under a prescribed pressuring force by which a composite sintered rod is obtd. The build-up layer formed by using such filler rod has the wear resistance, etc. equal to or better than the wear resistance, etc. of a thermally sprayed layer; in addition, the boundary with the surface of the base material is welded and united by the weld heat so that the boundary has the secure bond. The high adhesive strength is thus provided to the build-up layer and said layer is not easily stripped or ruptured even if the layer is subjected to mechanical impact. |
