PURPOSE:To enhance color reproductivity of a photosensitive material and to facilitate control of gradation by incorporating a specified pyrazoloazole type magenta coupler and 2 or more kinds of monodispersed silver halide emulsions different in sensitivity. CONSTITUTION:The pyrazoloazole type magenta coupler to be used is represented by the formula shown on the right in which R<1> is H or a substituent, X is H or a group to be released by the coupling reaction with the oxidation product of an aromatic primary amine color developing agent, and each of Za, Zb, Zc is optionally substituted methine, =N-, or -NH-, one of the Za-Zb bond and the Zb-Zc bond is a double bond and the other is a single bond. As the monodispersed silver halide emulsion layers, ones having a sigma/d ratio of <=0.2 are used, where sigma is the standard deviation of a grain size distribution and d is an average grain diameter. The addition of said compound and 2 or more kinds of monodispersed silver halide emulsions different in sensitivity to the silver halide photographic sensitive material, such as a color photographic printing paper, permits the absorption characteristics of a magenta dye image to be improved, and a photographic color image superior in color reproducibility and good in gradation to be obtained. |
