The circuit has a central on button (ZE) and an off button (ZA) which buttons emit a pulse to the winding of in each case one current-impulse switch (S) of each lighting unit (L), via a changeover contact (K) having a diode connected to it. These lighting units can be switched on and off individually by operating buttons (T) which are arranged in a decentralised manner. The control unit is used for centrally switching a lighting system on and off, which system has any desired number of lighting units which can also be switched on and off individually.
