VACUUM ARC HEATING TYPE LADLE REFINING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To absorb the eccentricity of electrodes during the vertical movement thereof while maintaining airtightness and to decrease the splash of solid matter to a sealing part by providing seal ring devices each having a cylindrical part and movable flange part for hermetically sliding water-cooled metallic cylinders to the electrode hole positions of a vacuum chamber. CONSTITUTION:An electrode device 4 for arc heating provided on a ladle 1 has vacuum-tight electrode gripping parts 9 for gripping electrodes 8, electrode caps 10 and the water-cooled metallic cylinders 11. Electrode holes 7b are provided to face the electrode holes 7a on the top surface of the vacuum chamber 3 and the water-cooled metallic cylinder 11 are put into and out of the vacuum chamber 3 through the holes 7b. The seal ring devices 14 having the cylindrical parts sliding and fitting to and with the water-cooled metallic cylinder 11 via hermetic sealing packing 12 and the movable flange parts for hermetically sealing the holes 7b via packings 13 are provided to the position of the holes 7b. The deviation in the horizontal direction of the electrodes 8 during the vertical movement thereof is absorbed by the sliding of the seal ring devices 14 and the packings 13 while the vacuum tightness is maintained by the above- mentioned mechanism.
