PURPOSE:To simplify the constitution of and drive control on a picture former by a method in which a platen and a separable pinch roller are provided on the front stage of the feeding direction of materials to be transferred rather than the transfer position of the transfer section, and the material to be transferred is collided with the contact portion between the pinch roller and the platen for regulating the position. CONSTITUTION:When a start signal is supplied, a pinch roller 20 is pressed by a platen roller 4, and a feeding roller 16 and the platen roller 4 are driven to carry out the paper Pa. At the same time, a given ink is fed to printing points. Whether the tip of the paper Pa is detected or not under the condition that the thermal head 5 is pressed by the platen roller 4 is judged. After the paper Pa is set at a printing start position, a thermal transfer ribbon 6 and the paper Pa are fed, and the head 5 is pressed by the roller 4 for starting the printing. The ribbon 6 is fed to the printing point of next color after detection of the ending of the printing. When all colors of inks are printed completely, the papers are sent out to a paper discharge tray 2. |
