<p>The development is described of the sludge space in centrifugal separators for liquids, which are opened and closed at intervals during running be means of control pulses, the sludge space of the drum being designed as a double hollow cone. The aim of the invention is the improvement of the ratio of separating space to sludge space to the benefit of the separating space, where the external contour of the sludge space is to be formed in such a way that a secure sludge discharge is ensured for the smallest projected base of the sludge space. For this purpose, the development of the sludge space is to be designed in such a way that adhesion of the compacted and solidified sludge to the sludge space contour is substantially prevented and a complete sludge removal is achieved from the sludge space at the time of the periodic sludge removal. According to the invention, this is achieved by the sludge space contour of the double hollow cone not being a straight line in the meridional section, but being a curve.</p> |
