PURPOSE:To easily suck away molten slag without solidifying the slag with water cooling by constructing a suction head for removing the molten slag on the surface of a molten low m.p. metal into a water cooled double pipe and ejecting air from the lower part of the inside pipe toward the upper part. CONSTITUTION:The suction head 2 for removing the molten slag floating on the surface of a melt 2n is constructed as the double pipe 9 consisting of an inside pipe 7 and an outside pipe 8. The inside of the double pipe 9 is used as a jacket 10 for cooling water and the cooling water is supplied thereto from a socket 11 and is discharged therefrom to cool the inside pipe 9. The inside pipe 7 is constructed of a stainless steel or Cr-plated Cu pipe to the inside surface of which molten slag is difficult to stick. The bottom end of the suction head 2 is lowered onto the molten slag and the air 21 is ejected upward from a nozzle 17 of a mouthpiece 12 connected to the bottom end. The molten slag is sucked by the ejected air 21 so as to stick to the inside surface of the inside pipe 7. The slag is cooled, solidified and crushed by the water cooling jacket 10 and is fed together with the air to a slag separator. The molten slag is easily cooled and solidified by the inside pipe of the double pipe without cooling and solidifying the molten slag with the water. The cooled and solidified slag is discharged from the head. |
