NEW MATERIAL:Antibiotic substance C-2 having the following physical and chemical properties. Appearance, light yellow powder; molecular weight, 276 (FD-MS method); solubility, soluble in water, methanol and butanol, somewhat hardly soluble in ethyl acetate; color reaction, positive to Elson-Morgan reaction and negative to ninhydrin reaction; etc. USE:Antibacterial agent and carcinostatic agent. PREPARATION:For example Streptomyces griseoincarnatus (AJ9424) capable of producing the novel substance C-2 is cultured in a proper medium under aerobic condition at 25-38 deg.C while controlling the pH of the medium to 4-9. |
