The invention relates to the fields of the motor vehicle industry. It's subject is more particularly an anti-theft device which comprises a hub 1 mounted on the steering column having, at its upper face, a frustoconical portion 3, a cylindrical base part 5 having a frustoconical recess 8 in which the frustoconical portion engages, a device for secure fastening consisting of two locking rods 7, 7 bis for automatically taking up play, which rods can move and come to be housed in the body of the base part, and a device for fastening the steering wheel of the vehicle. The device according to the invention makes it possible to provide a dissuasive effect against the theft of any type of vehicle by easily removing the steering wheel or, on the contrary, by conveniently replacing it and with all the guarantees of safety. <IMAGE>
