PURPOSE:To aim at expediting the fastening step of a boot onto a shaft with a protruding and recessed part formed in the inner peripheral surface of the boot being engaged with a recessed and protruding part formed in the shaft, by press- fitting the resilient boot onto the shaft with a fastening band being fixed thereonto. CONSTITUTION:When the left end opening 18 of a resilient boot 16 is press-fitted onto the tapered right end section of a shaft 10, a protruding annular section 22 in the inner surface of the resilent boot 16 is clampled between a ring-like fastening band 24 and the tapered section of the shaft 10 to be elastically deformed into a flattened shape, and then resilently recovers its original shape when the boot 16 passes over the top end of the tapered section 12, thereby the boot 16 may be engaged with a recessed groove 14 in the shaft 10 by a single touch. In order to give an optimum fastening force in the condition in which the protruding annular section 22 in the inner surface of the resilient boot 16 is engaged and locked in the recessed groove 14 of the shaft 10, the inner diameter of a ring-like fastening band 28 is selected. |
