PURPOSE:To enhance sensitivity and graininess and to reduce fog by incorporating chemically sensitized silver halide grains each composed substantially of 2 specified layers in an emulsion in one of emulsion layers. CONSTITUTION:The silver halide emulsion layer contains the silver halide grains each substantially having a clear 2-layer structure, and containing silver iodide in the core part in an amount of 10-40mol%, and in the outermost shell layer in an amount of <=5mol%, and in an average amount of >=5mol% on the whole, and at least one layer of a silver halide photographic sensitive material contains an poly oxyethylene derivative. As the silver halide contained in the outermost shell, any of silver chloride, chlorobromide, and bromide may be used, but it is preferred to increase the content of silver bromide, and an average silver iodide content is >=5mol%, preferably, >=7mol% on the whole, thus permitting the obtained photosensitive material to be high in sensitivity, small in fog, and superior in graininess. |
