Device making it possible to raise a bedding assembly 12a, which, from a resting/lying-down use position, is raised to a high position by the mechanical drive assembly with reversing switch 4, which drives the four posts (stauchions) 2, the jacks 3 by means of the shafts and pinions 5 and 6, the latter being fastened under the platform 11. When the bedding assembly 12 is in the high position, releasing on the floor a surface area equal to the area required for two people lying down (for instance 1.60 m x 2 m) and the height raised allowing the users to stand up, the area thus released represents a saving in terms of space, useable as a games area for children for instance or for the permanent mounting of model electric railways or any other toys requiring large surface areas. The device, according to the invention, is intended in particular to transform a conventional bedding assembly, for one or two people, which releases, in the high position, a floor area useable as a miniature gymnastic hall with the possibility of fastening therein indoor physical-exercise equipment. <IMAGE>
