PURPOSE:To cast continuously and stably steel contg. Bi or Pb at a specific rate or above without explosion and scattering by starting casting without adding Bi or Pb to the molten steel in the initial period of casting and charging continuously the additive component by each adequate amt. to a casting mold, etc. from the time when the stable continuous casting operation is started. CONSTITUTION:A steel contg. Bi or Pb is produced by adding a Bi or Pb component to a high oxygen-contg. molten metal without using a deoxidizing agent such as Al, Si, etc. A small explosion and scattering arise in the casting mold or tundish in this stage but such phenomenon is only for the beginning of pouring and does not arise when the pouring is stabilized. The steel contg. >=0.02wt% Bi or Pb is thus stably and continuously cast by charging continuously the additive component to the casting mold or tundish from the stable transfer stage after the start of continuous casting. |
