摘要 PURPOSE:To lessen the consumption energy by a method wherein the thermal head is manufactured in a constitution that the wear-resistant protective films are protruded in such a way as to hold the heating unit row of the thermal head in the array direction. CONSTITUTION:A thermal head 13 is constituted of an insulating substrate 18 formed by adhering an insulating film 17 on a heat-radiating plate 16, a heating unit row 19 formed on the end surface 18a of this insulating substrate 18, lead electrodes 20 and wear-resistant protective films 22 which are adhered only on both ends of the heating unit row 19 and protect the heating unit row 19 from wear by the action of functioning as a spacer. When the gap (g) between the heating unit row 19 and an ink-holding film 12 is made zero, that is, when the thermal head 13 is made to closely contact the ink-holding film 12, the energy W ever needed for making an ink 24 discharge at 3,500erg, for example, the energy W is reduced to 300-600erg by the increase in (g) up to 5mum or more, for example.
