PURPOSE:To surely prevent the intrusion of water and to obtain a juncture which is stable for a long period of time by inserting ferrules for gripping and fixing optical fiber cords which are provided with a springing property via springs into both housings and screwing ferrule retaining members for positioning the ferrules to the apertures at the front ends of both housings. CONSTITUTION:Rubber caps 16, 33, housings 1, 18 and springs 8, 25 are preliminarily inserted respectively successively onto both optical fiber cords to be connected. The ferrules 9, 26 are put onto the terminal parts of the optical fiber cords and are caulked. The preliminarily inserted springs 8, 25 and housings 1, 18 are pulled back onto the ferrules 9, 26 and the ferrule retaining members 13, 30 are respectively screwed into the screw holes 5, 22 of the housings 1, 18 and after the positions of the ferrules 9, 26 are adjusted, the front ends of both housings 1, 18 are fitted and detained to each other. The optical fiber cords are thereby connected quickly and surely; in addition, both housings 1, 18 are water-tightly fitted and detained to each other. The rubber caps 16, 33 can be put on the terminal parts of the housings 1, 18. |
