A time-division multiplex controller for a multiplicity of electrical loads in a motor vehicle is proposed, which loads are to be connected to the vehicle battery via a common supply line and can be driven via receiving stations by coded control signals from a control centre, by means of control switches. In order in a simple manner to improve the operational reliability and defect reliability of such a system, the control signals are transmitted by an ultrasound transmitter (18) of the control centre (11) via the air in a pipeline system (17) to the ultrasound receivers (19) at the receiving stations (16). <IMAGE>
