In order to acquire a number of variable measurement quantities simultaneously it is provided that the measurement quantities are supplied to an input interface and are stored channel by channel in a data memory for a time interval which is identical for all measurement quantities. The measurement quantity is displayed on a recorder, printer and/or display with the aid of a microprocessor at a later time. The input means for the required functions are associated with a display device which allocates alternating meanings to the input means via a microprocessor and a programme memory.
